Tonna Farrar grew up in the Midwest where her parents were small business owners. She learned from an early age the sacrifices small business owners had to make to succeed. When she turned 16, her parents permitted her drive their rig to horse shows by herself, but she first had to prove that she could change a tire on her own, and back the trailer to park it anywhere without any assistance! They instilled a great amount of independence and “can do” attitude in her, for which she is so grateful. This upbringing has given her the tenacity to practice law for 20 years, with licensing in 4 states. She now loves to share the same strong values with her 10 y.o. son, who is the absolute light of her life- and she shares this with tremendous emotion and love as any proud mother would.
Why did you select the business you are in?
I was a voracious reader growing up and my father would pick a topic every night at the dinner table to debate. I loved the challenge of analysis and persuasion. I believe that as lawyers we have a wonderful opportunity to serve the public and positively influence people’s lives and businesses in moments when they most need strength and guidance.
What do you like most about what you do?
Getting to know my clients and becoming personally invested in their lives and businesses. I love to celebrate my clients’ successes.
Why did you join WOW and what is the most rewarding or valuable aspect of being a WOW member?
My best friend invited me to attend an event with her and the energy in the room left me feeling so invigorated! I leave every WOW event feeling proud to be part of a group of enlightened, strong Willamette Valley women.
Who could be an ideal potential client for you? I’m very excited to be in the process of aligning with a Yamhill County full-service law firm where I can provide personal and business representation. My ideal potential client will be someone who wants compassionate, honest and impeccable legal representation.
What do you like to do for fun?
Breathe in the wonderful smell of the barn when I visit my horse. Explore the Willamette Valley and enjoy its bounty of food and wine. I also enjoy reading books about strong women – I’m currently reading a biography of Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.
What are five things you cannot live without?
- My son
- My love
- My family
- My horse
- And popcorn with lots of butter and salt!
Where is your favorite place to vacation?
Santa Fe, NM. It has so much history, expansive scenery, unique architecture, chili-laden food, gorgeous turquoise, art and a special healing energy that touches my soul every time I visit.
