    Adele O'Neal with ADELE'S ADORNMENTS

Adele O'Neal wears two hats; during the day she is a recruiter for the State of Oregon, Department of Consumer and Business Services, where she helps people find their dream job! When she is not doing that, her second love is doing all kinds of crafts, but especially jewelry.  She took a wire-wrapping class a few years ago with some co-workers and discovered she loved it! She had been making pieces for friends as gifts, but was getting so many compliments from strangers (clerks at stores, waitresses, even the gas station guy!) that she decided to start selling her pieces. She currently has some of her work at Accessory Appeal in McMinnville, and posts pieces on Etsy. Her work can also be seen this fall at the 2015 Art Harvest Studio Tour of Yamhill County. Adele lives in Dundee with her two cats, Gabby and Diesel, who help out by getting on her work table and laying on her work.  They are not impressed by her designs, but they do appreciate the beads and stones!

What do you like most about what you do?
I love how creative I can be with the jewelry.  My day job is creative in that each person has a different set of skills, and I work with them to find the perfect job, which is very fulfilling. But taking beautiful stones, beads and wire, and making something wonderful out of them is truly a joy. I especially enjoy making custom pieces for people. Everyone has a special stone, shell or small memento, and I love adding to the beauty of the item by incorporating it into a special wearable piece.

Why did you join WOW and what is the most rewarding or valuable aspect of being a WOW member?
I joined WOW to meet other women in Yamhill County, and I can say that it is allowing me opportunities to meet many new people!  And for my business, Adele’s Adornments,  I see my membership and participation as a valuable way to show more people my jewelry, and build up a clientele. As I tell my job seekers, networking works!

Who could be an ideal potential client for you?
Anyone who loves unique handmade jewelry!

What do you like to do for fun?
I like to garden, cook and bake.  I am kind of competitive and have done pretty well at the State and County Fairs with my Cherry Pie and other baked and canned goods.  I occasionally spend time with my two granddaughters, Hailee and Emma, and they are such a joy.

What are five things you cannot live without?
Friends, family (that includes my cats!), a creative outlet, opportunity to learn something new every day, and... chocolate!

Where is your favorite place to vacation?
I love going to Twin Lakes at Mono Village, which is in the Eastern High Sierras in California.  The place has many great memories because my family has been going there since the 1950s.  Even though I don’t “camp” anymore, but stay in a cabin when I go, the memories are still there!
